The extent of Karavouzi’s narrative creates leaves us with a sense of unity with characteristics of dominant themes of the silent dialogue of the artist, a dialogue that begins with everyday simple objects and extends to the ancient Greek elements. Sarantis Karavouzis faces still life from his own perspective. It keeps their essential elements, their thematic core, preserves the aesthetic interest of the composition with the same everyday objects, which touch a mysterious secret reality. A good designer but also a thinker with metaphysical mood releases the humble objects, bottles, cups, vases from their utilitarian qualities and gives them a monumental character. These static arrangements, the low tones, sometimes peculiar and warm, and sometimes neutral and cold, emphasize eternal peace.Stelios Lydakis “Karavouzis”Source: greek-language.gr

Familiar with myths and history, Karavouzis integrates the ancient Greek past into his works and makes it revive without anything the theoretical or the archaeological, with the ambiguous power of his time so familiar with the poetry of Cavafy. Statues, headless bodies, tunics, broken pillars, horses descended from the metopes of a temple, give an atmosphere of dream and metaphysical wonder. The moonlit nightcapes, the ruins of temples touching the last light of the sun, the niches where the truncated statues of Dioskouris and Cleopatra are hidden in Delos remind us of the irreversible course of death, but also a wonderful dream setting in twilight or moonlight.
