Psychopedis Yannis
Yannis Psychopedis was born in Athens, in 1945. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1963 – 1968) and continued his postgraduate studies at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, on a scholarship by the State of Germany (1971 – 1976). He was a founding member of the group “New Greek Realists”, as well as the Center of Visual Arts (Athens, 1974-1976). He was also a member of the visual art group 10/9, in Munich (1975). He was called as a guest for the artistic program of the West Berlin DAAD (1977). During the years 1977-1986, he lived and worked in West Berlin. In 1977, he moved to Brussels, where he lived and worked until 1992. In 1994, he was elected Professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts. He has presented his work in many personal and group exhibitions in Greece, France, West and East Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Ireland, Cyprus, the United States, Sweden, Israel, England, Holland, Turkey, Egypt, Italy, Canada and elsewhere, in private galleries, national galleries and museums.
