Gavalas Stelios
Stelios Gavalas was born in Athens in 1966. In 1985 he enters the Athens School of Fine Arts for studies of sculpture with professors G. Nicolaidis and Th. Papagiannis. At the same time, he studies Plaster, Ceramics, Wood Sculpture and Metalworking. In 1990 he completed his studies with a sculpture diploma with excellence. Since 1998 he has worked at the Archeological Resources & Exploitation Fund of the Ministry of Culture, since 2006 he is Artistic Chief. He has also worked with the Acropolis Monument Conservation Service (YSMEA), and collaborates with the Byzantine, the Archaeological and the Numismatic Museum, where he draws from original ancient works of art. As part of his participation, he was awarded the Biennale Florence 2001 Sculpture Award.
