After the use of the board, which is easy to engrave and has no cost, Grammatopoulos taught another technical system, which is the coloring of wood surfaces. In this, the image is created by the interference of three basic colors in the formation of a composition and by attacking, without engraving, of a dividing line or of several dividing lines defining the drawing. This attack is done by printing a white band or several white areas that overlap the colors. In this way, he accomplished a work that does not arise from the sculpting of a surface, but is linked to a technical discovery of the ability of white to overlap certain areas and to leave minute passes -tonal gradients. This discovery resulted in the creation of a flash and the creation of soft passages from the bright to the dark parts of the project. With this process, a painting (painted with engraving) and a plasticity in his engraving work were shaped by purely engraving solutions, which did not give either side or standing wood.
