“I’m passionate about this car. I always wanted to add to it what Swatch had! I wanted to make smart a work of art! A unique object”
This is what Thanassis Lalas said and now can now it happen during a special event that will take place at Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti.
Thanassis Lalas has been showing us his pop art attitude the past few years every chance he gets. He’s always up for a challenge and his creations show us that he continues putting together his vision for a post pop art era by intervening on everyday objects. He began to intervening on paper napkins, paper tablecloths, shoes, clothes, dinnerware, handkerchiefs, glasses, bathroom tiles as well as swimming pool tiles, watches, handbags and public walls! Now, Thanassis Lalas, intervenes on his favorite smart fortwo car. In one night he transforms four new smart cars into art pieces. He makes smart a unique object that changes our everyday life.
From the two smart cars that will be at Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti will be transformed into useful art objects. One of the two will already be “dressed” with silkscreens created by Thanassis Lalas, while on the opening day, Friday the 13th of October, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the artist hands on as the experts of A. Ismailos SA will assemble it and Thanassis Lalas will create on it. At Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti you will also find the designs Thanassis Lalas used before come to his final art work for the smart cars as well as those from which he was inspired. Eventually we will be a witness in his creative process and will see them depicted on the two smart cars. Αpart from the paintings you would expect to see in a gallery, Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti will also be displaying painted car pieces such as doors, windows, etc.
Those who attend the opening day as well as those who visit the gallery for this exhibition will have the chance to win a unique gift. A miniature smart car that Thanassis Lalas himself will draw on, will be given away the last day of the exhibition at Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti.
