Dimitris Koukos is a painter who, in all his efforts, seeks to overcome this redefinition between the aesthetic experience and the poetic interpretation of the world. His painting could be narrowly regarded as a topography and indeed abstract or lyrical. In essence, it is a kind of edge, a recording, not of the natural image or visual aesthetics, but of natural energy and visual revelation. His paintings are exploding with morphoplastic microcosms, while his broad touch builds forms with a sense of music. In Kouko’s world there is no darkness or shadows. Only light. The light stands in color and undertakes it to create the world of images, the universe of forms.
