The painting of Sikeliotis Giorgos is genuine Greek, derived from popular tradition, Byzantine austerity, ancient Greek beauty and musicality. Connected deeply to his personal experiences, with no traces of academic studies, it is based on warm colors and embedded dimensions in bodies and faces. It has the harshness of the hagiographer. He lived and worked for long periods in England and France. In England, he painted mainly the industrial landscape of central England, as well as the villages and landscapes of Wales. This painting and engraving was presented in two solo exhibitions titled “Old England”. He was also proposed for the Guggenheim Prize.
