Educational program for children “Colors & canvasses: a trip to the Cyclades”
Educational program for children “Colors & canvasses: a trip to the Cyclades” Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti is organizing a special program for children under the title “Colors & canvasses: a trip to the Cyclades”. The program is offered in connection with Dimosthenis Kokkinidis’ exhibition “Cyclades” and is addressing children between the ages of 6 and 11.
On Saturday, December 1 st , at 11.00-12.00 a.m., Nikoleta Xidea, Archeologist MA, Museologist and Museum Educator will be accompanying our young friends to a special trip around the Cyclades, through Dimosthenis Kokkinidis recent works.
They will have as their guide blue, yellow and white, the artist’s favorite colors. The program aspires to familiarize children with Dimosthenis Kokkinidis’ artistic work, before his paintings become part of private collections and museums. Guided by color, sound and light, our young visitors shall have the opportunity of visiting Cyclades with the power of their imagination, while coming in contact with the artist’s source of inspiration. The specially designed tour of the gallery will help them discover different ways of appreciating visual art, through the observation of the artist’s main tools: color and light.
Children will discover that Kokkinidis loves depicting his beloved Cyclades through color, with the result varying from dreamy reminiscence to pure realism. They will also have the opportunity of visiting our own art studio in order to experiment on
the creation of art. They will be given colors and brushes with which they will be able to create their own memento, aspired by Kokkinidis’ artistic style. They will have the chance of exploring their own artistic skills, cultivating their imagination and experiencing what it really means to create a work of art. At the end of the day, colors, canvasses, paintings and participants will pose together for a commemorative photograph inside the exhibition, surrounded by Kokkinidis’ “Cyclades”.
