The international Art Fair of Athens has returned for its 25 th annual rendezvous and Sianti Gallery has once more met with its art loving friends. From Friday, September 16, 2022 to Monday, September 19, 2022, 80 Greek and international art spaces have presented works created by renown visual artists covering a wide spectrum of artistic expression.
Sianti Gallery has participated with an exhibition under the title ‘Dialogues’, a choice of significance since it represents the transition from the Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti to the Sianti Gallery. Here, the younger and older generations are in constant dialogue concerning theme, color and technique. Sometimes they guide one another and sometimes they converse freely under the broad horizons only art can offer. Various artistic pairs follow one another in a harmonious relationship resembling the way Theodoros and Vassiliki Sianti have succeeded their father, Fanis Siantis, the founder of the Ikastikos Kiklos Gallery.
In this year’s exhibition, in booth G5, the plain forms created by Sotiris Sorogas have stood beside the complex embroidery of Dimitra Chanioti. The abstract worlds of Christina Papaioanou have embarked on a discussion with those of Gianis Fokas. The expressionistic law enforcement officers of Christos Antonaropoulos have surveilled the almost formless cyclist of Makis Theofilaktopoulos. Opi Zounis’ solid colors and spaces have opened a dialogue with Konstantinos Tolis’ horizons. A master – thematically and chromatically – of modernism, Christos Sarakatsianos has started a discussion with the evermoving, emotional world of Gianis Valirakis. The surrealistic elements in the work of Christos Karas were fully revealed when it stood beside the realistically surreal world of Lila Belivanaki. The deeply Greek elements of Giorgos Stathopoulos have given life to the folkloric canvas of Apostolos Chantzaras. The tender, almost innocent world of Pavlos Samios has exculpated the sensitive embrace of Angelos Spartalis. The calm seas of Dimosthenis Kokinidis met with Panagiotis Siagris’ sunset, while the dancers of sculptor Thodoros Papagianis danced to the rhythm of Stelios Gavalas’ musical funnel.
It was with great joy and honor that we greeted you at this year’s booth G5, in order to marvel together at the open dialogue between the past and the present, the modern and the classic under the guidance of Art itself.
