The Sianti Gallery opens the group exhibition of Kostas Varotsos, Kostas Paniaras and Sotiris Sorogas entitled “Secret Language”, which is accompanied by the catalog of the same title. The curator is the art historian, George Mylonas, who underlines that this company of visual artists undoubtedly influences the artistic education of the state, as they are separate chapters in our modern visual tradition.
The three artistic personalities are presented in an unpredictable, but essential dialogue: The late Kostas Paniaras with his volcanic colors and explosive kinetic painting, the lyricist of visual memory and the silent submission of images, Sotiris Sorogas and, finally, Kostas Varotsos, a a creator who combines in his sculptural forms technology and the poetic aura of things, of different materials, the transparency but at the same time the dynamic imposition that can distinguish a sculptural construction.

This unpredictable combination of the three visual arts is the reason why the curator of the exhibition passionately defends them: “… In the work of Kostas Paniaras, time flows like a wide river through what we make, moving away from utility. The color is the star in almost all phases of his work, whether in explosive monochromes or in unexpected combinations. With this flood of colors, I see Paniaras’ works captivating us, becoming our banners. Kostas Varotsos is also an artist of the world, a runner who shows his work in densely populated centers or remote places. But even in his small works, Varotsos feels like a lover of the moment, he looks into her eyes where the fleeting flutters. On the other hand, Sorogas rebels against time. Almost all his works bear the trace of the other use of things, of human toil, of time itself. It transforms the elements, such as stone and dry stone, into symbols, which in turn produce other life.”

Ultimately, the works of all three artists work their magic. In fact, the element is noteworthy, when they tackle on the one hand the immortalization of the timeless Myth. On the one hand, with the expression of the problems faced by modern man, but always art is a constant, a refuge and a way out together. It is an original exhibition which, it would not be an exaggeration to say, condenses key achievements and subversive, aesthetic proposals in the critical transition from the 20th to the 21st century. An exhibition organized with the deepest desire to feel the explosion of colors, the austerity of the subjects but also the naturalness of the materials with the air they exude giving an undeniable balance!
