The retrospective exhibition “Apostolos Yayannos: 50 years of Art” opens on Thursday, March 28 at 19:00 at the Sianti Gallery and celebrates fifty years (1974-2024) of the great artist’s creation, during which he has been tirelessly capturing new visual approaches of the world, having presented his paintings, sculptures, and engravings to 88 solo exhibitions and countless group exhibitions worldwide.

Color mastery, design detail, unpredictable sculptural compositions, and adventurous painting transformations, are some of the virtues that established Apostolos Yayannos How can one show sum up the torrent of an artistic output of such unfailing quality and variety? The present exhibition, curated by his daughter Maria Yiayiannou, focuses on the twenty most recent years of Apostolos Yayannos’ work, presenting samples from ten artistic periods in a comprehensive retrospective that keeps the interest undiminished and allows a look at the history of the creator, not as a quiet one part of an Archive, but as an active legacy for the Future.

The visitor will interact with 50 paintings of large and medium dimensions and with sculptures. The sections entitled EDEN, Twentieth Century, Landscapes, Flowers. Alone, Vanishing Point, The Egg of Man, Crocodiles, Football, Praise, The Night of the Scarabs, are exhibited while texts posted on the walls give access to the historical continuity and the thematic of each work. The literary ventures of Apostolos Yayannos will also be available, complementing the wide world of the artist that is always defined by the coordinates of his creative obsessions, which lead him to exciting inspirations.
