For the eighth time, Sianti Gallery will participate in Art Athina, and this year we are proud to showcase the works of three artists who have made a powerful and distinctive mark on the contemporary visual arts scene: Dimitris Alithinos, Panagiotis Siagreece, and Manolis Charos.
Dimitris Alitheinos, born in Athens in 1945, studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1968–1970), continued his studies at the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome, and completed architectural studies in Paris. He is regarded as one of the leading contemporary Greek visual artists, with a strong social and political impetus in his work. His “Katakrypseis” project, initiated in 1981, is a unique international action aimed at conveying a message of saving humanity and the environment, and continues to this day. He has represented Greece at several biennials, including São Paulo (1983), Istanbul (1989), Venice (1997), and Cairo (1998).
Panagiotis Siagreece, born in Piraeus in 1966, graduated with distinction from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 1990. He has held over thirteen solo exhibitions in Greece and Cyprus and has been featured in significant international events such as the Florence Biennale, the Alexandria Biennale, as well as showcases across Europe and Asia. He has also participated repeatedly in the Art Athina fair (2005–2022).
Manolis Charos, born in Kythera in 1960 and based in Athens, studied painting and engraving at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, followed by postgraduate studies in visual communication at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In 1984, he was awarded the French national Prix des Fondations in lithography, and in 1998 he received an award from the Academy of Athens for creators under the age of 40. His work has been exhibited extensively in Greece and across Europe—including France, the UK, Italy, Germany—as well as in the United States. In 2000–2001, he served as a guest artist at Princeton University in the U.S.
The selection of these three artists is deliberate and meaningful. They follow different artistic trajectories, yet converge in their shared commitment to prompting a re-examination of the world around us—and to translating that world through art.
With our participation in Art Athina 2025, Sianti Gallery continues its vision of supporting creators who inspire, provoke, and open new pathways of communication with the public.
