Participating in this celebratory event, are 34 visual artists, who welcome us through their artworks to a magical world of intimacy and wonder.
Sianti Gallery actively supports “ELPIDA-Association of Friends of Children with cancer”
As part of the exhibition, Sianti Gallery has the pleasure of hosting its 8th annual lottery, in order to support the Elpida Association. Our visitors will have the opportunity of contributing to this charity by purchasing lottery tickets at the price of 10 euros each, which are available for the duration of the exhibition. All revenues will go to the Elpida Association. Through the purchase of these lottery tickets, our visitors will not only have the opportunity of supporting an important cause, but they will also have a chance of winning a painting by Kostas Spiriounis titled “Laurel and Olive” as the prize of the lottery, which will take place at the end of January, in the presence of a representative of the Elpida Association.
Paintings made by children, an offering of love to children
On December the 14th, our gallery’s little friends also had the opportunity of participating in this charity event, creating paintings and wishing cards, which they dedicate by name and offer as a gift to the children of the Children’s Oncology Unit. On the day of the lottery for the painting of Kostas Spiriounis, our little friends’ creations will be exhibited at the gallery, and the children will be rewarded for this act of love.
Small canvasses, great stories
Through the “Small Paintings” exhibition, Sianti Gallery wishes to promote the idea that even the smallest work of art can be great in power and substance. Small artworks are present throughout the History of Art, since the ancient years: the miniatures of Medieval Europe, the art on the Medieval manuscripts, the small Renaissance portraits made with oil or watercolors, which were used as mementoes or jewelry.
Until today, small artworks present a great challenge for every artist: it is an opportunity of experimenting and of trying new techniques, while the use of colors and shapes in a limited space leads to a unique way of expression. The artist is inspired by the need of depicting details with accuracy in order to create a personal bond of familiarity with the viewer.
In this way, Art becomes a unifying force, Christmas becomes an inspiration for us all, and the offerings of love become a source of warmth in people’s hearts.
