Carving the marble with light, Dikefalos redefines the concept of sculpture with harmony, balance and visual symmetry as the main conditions. He seeks the performance of pure form and creates bioforms, geometric or aerodynamic, taking advantage of the nature of his materials. These compositions, sometimes solid and sometimes with gaps at key points, extend vertically or horizontally and allow light to pass through the surfaces and project the volumes, while often giving the impression of continuous movement. The late Marina Lambrakis Plaka wrote about her beloved student, who dedicated himself to the difficult path of sculpture and at the same time was led close to the teachings of the great masters: “This relationship for Dikephalos is erotic, it is a relationship of passion. The sleek forms born from his chisel belong to a modern classicism. The space around them acts as a boundary, embracing the form without letting it “diffuse”. The plastic forms of the Bicephalus preliminarily exclude ugliness, deformity, impressive surprises. The sculptor interprets the light like his ancient contemporaries with light strokes that write his step on the plastic surface with wetness while, where the composition requires, a deep groove creates the shadow intensity’. And he concludes characteristically: “Kostas Dikefalos is a creator of our time who managed to save and serve two values that are in danger of disappearing: the honesty of the craftsman and the passion for the beautiful form. The fruit of this hierogamy is a modern work, perfect from a technical point of view and joyfully beautiful.”
