“Heard”. Thanassis Lalas’ personal exhibition at the Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti.
Title of the exhibition: “HEARD”
Duration: February 14, 2017 – March 4, 2017
Opening: Tuesday 14th of February, 19:00
“How hard must a heart be, to stand such a betrayal?” This is the question Thanassis Lalas is faced with, in his personal exhibition under the title “Heard”, which is hosted at the Ikastikos Kiklos Sianti and will have its opening on Tuesday 14th of February, at 19:00 in the evening.
Playing with the words “Heart” and “Hard”, Thanassis Lalas “greets” Saint Valentine with a series of works coming from the heart, in an effort to answer certain questions, which have always remained elusive, since his childhood years. Thanassis Lalas’ paintings, sculptures and unique objects designed by the artist himself, are seeking for the tiniest bits of clues, which would help us uncover the countless wonders of the heart.
As the artist points out in regards to his “Heard” exhibition: “The HEART is the chamber of our soul!” “And what is there, in the chamber of our soul?” I asked my teacher… with the naivety of a child, facing an unanswered question. “Our feelings”… she said to me in a blink. “And what are our feelings?” “Everything a person feels among people!” The conversation ended there, because neither my schoolmates, neither my teacher herself could take it any further.
This is the conversation I would like to continue through the series of works, revolving around the HEART!
My goal is to explore the stuff of the HEART!
How fragile can a heart be?
Does a heart differ from man to man?
Can we change our lives by the sheer power of our heart?
Do we fall in love by the heart?
How does our heart cope with failure?
How can it not burst with triumph?
What makes it ail?
How hard must a heart be, to stand betrayal?
