He<strong> studied painting and printmaking at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris<\/strong> (1956-1962). Later on <strong>he taught lithography at the same school<\/strong> (1976-1987). He also <strong>attended etching courses in London<\/strong> (1969). He presented <strong>his first solo exhibition in Athens in 1966<\/strong> (Astor Gallery).&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>He usually paints with oils, pastels, temperas and acrylics.<\/strong> He also <strong>engages in printmaking, particularly lithography, exploiting the full potential of the medium.<\/strong> His oeuvre is dominated by typically <strong>anthropocentric themes that combine elements of everyday life with a metaphysical, dreamlike, erotic atmosphere.<\/strong> In this <strong>private mythology figures are depicted without individual characteristics, with clear contours, intense color, and with an emphasis on the plasticity of the body, especially of the female nude.<\/strong> <strong>The scenes usually take place indoors, and more rarely outdoors, and are often accompanied by repetitive motifs-symbols, such as the mirror, fans, playing cards, pots et al., which enhance the themes\u2019 poetic dimension.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"description-container dynamic-content\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-26771\" src=\"https:\/\/ikastikos-kiklos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sperantzas-vasilis.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ikastikos-kiklos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sperantzas-vasilis.jpg 220w, https:\/\/ikastikos-kiklos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sperantzas-vasilis-213x300.jpg 213w, https:\/\/ikastikos-kiklos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/sperantzas-vasilis-140x197.jpg 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 220px) 100vw, 220px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"description-container dynamic-content\"><strong>Always true to his artistic idiom, the artist depicts an antirealist and yet familiar world, with indirect allusions to archaic, Byzantine and folk art, the painting of the Greek 30s generation, but also to the Parisian modern art.&nbsp;<\/strong><br \/>\nHe has presented his work in <strong>many solo shows in Greece and abroad<\/strong>. He has also participated in the Pan-Hellenic exhibitions, the Salon de Mai in Paris (1967-1987), as well as in group and international painting and printmaking events.
