Panagiotidis Aggelos<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Angelos Panagiotidis was born in Amfilochia in 1950. He presented his first works in his atelier in 1990 and his first exhibition took place in 1995 at the Titanium Yiayiannos Gallery<\/strong>. Since then, he has held 18 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. Numerous Olympic winners and heads of states have been honoured with his sculptures. During the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, he created the artwork “Olive Tree of Athens”, made of bronze and copper, standing 3.30 meters tall, consisting of 5,000 bronze leaves, which was exhibited throughout the duration of the Olympic Games in the sponsors park (Water Plaza) in Paleo Faliro. The artwork is permanently displayed at Technopolis in Gazi.<\/p>\n

\"\"His artworks can be found in the National Bank of Greece, Piraeus Bank, the Olive Museum in Sparta, the Christos and Sofia Moschandreou <\/strong>Gallery in Messolonghi<\/strong>, at the headquarters of Coca-Cola<\/strong> in Athens, as well as in Atlanta, USA. Additionally, replicas of the artwork “Olive Tree of Athens” were offered by the main sponsor of the Olympic Games, Coca-Cola, to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne<\/strong> and to the Olympic Committee of Beijing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nHis artworks are also presented in the United Nations Security Council<\/strong> and the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople<\/strong>. Prototype artworks of Angelos Panagiotidis are permanently exhibited and sold at the Museum of Cycladic Art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nFurthermore, he has been collaborating with ELTA (Hellenic Post)<\/strong> since 2003, and his artworks are included in the collection of art objects.<\/p>\n

In 2018, the artist donated to his particular homeland, Amfilochia, the work – “Olive tree of Amfilochia” about 3 meters high, which was placed in the central square of the city.
\nIn 2019, the artist’s largest olive tree, 3.50 meters high, was placed in the new home of the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne. It was presented during the inauguration ceremony in June 2019 in the presence of all the “Immortals” and members of the IOC as well as many great Olympic winners.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

Philippos Panagiotidis<\/strong> was born in 1994 in Athens. He graduated from the History Department of the Ionian University<\/strong> with a master’s degree in History Education<\/strong>. He got to know metals alongside his father, Angelos Panagiotidis. He was introduced to art early on by following him to exhibitions. He learned tree sculpting in his father’s workshop, and in 2019 he became a co-creator of the Lausanne tree at the new home of
\nthe International Olympic Committee<\/strong>. The pandemic period in 2020 had a creative impact on him, and he began a journey with new forms and ideas. His first participation in a group exhibition will be at Art Space Gallery<\/strong> in Santorini for the year 2024, and after participating in Art Thessaloniki<\/strong>, he will also take part in Art Athina<\/strong> in September 2024.<\/p>\n

          The olive tree was the sacred symbol of the ancient city of Athens. According to the legend, the god Poseidon and the goddess Athena became rivals for the protection of the city. They both offered to the Athenian people a special gift in order to win their favor. Poseidon hit the earth with his trident and water sprang from the ground. But the water was salty and of no use to the people. Athena, on the other hand, offered them an olive tree which could be used for nourishment (in the form of fruit and oil) and for timber.<\/p>\n

          Her gift was considered much more useful and she was named protector of the city. The olive tree played such a crucial role to the prosperity of Athens that the winners of the Panathenaic Games \u2013 held during the Panathenaea, a great festival in honor of the goddess which took place every four years \u2013 received amphorae filled with this valuable olive oil.<\/p>\n

          Furthermore, the olive tree had a special, symbolic value for Greek people, in general. During the Olympic Games, winners were awarded a \u201ckotino\u201d, <\/em>a wreath made of branches cut from the sacred olive tree which stood outside Zeus\u2019 temple.
