Description:

Seeing my previous works and my works in the Museum, I managed to return to the sense of reality in nature. I was trying to copy nature, and due to the fact I couldn’t portray it exactly as it was, I did it as I could… as simple as that. And so the style of my painting was shaped in some way. At that time, I have done a whole project on musicians.

I had seen a work of Bouzianis and I was ecstatic … At that time a book dealer would come by my uncles’ place who brought me books about Van Gogh, Royo, Marquet and Gauguin. Royo impressed me a lot. I liked Marquet best, because I thought I could paint like that as well. And then there were the icons in churches. I would go to the monastery of Daphne with my grandfather and sleep on the ground from the day before. I would look at the icons of the saints on the walls full of humidity as well as lizards next to them and centipedes… All these things moved me. I wanted to paint them. I think I wanted to paint from the moment I understood the world. I saw the pictures and wanted to copy them, but I could not understand the technique. Then, when I saw the works of Marquet and later ancient Greeks, they encouraged me and opened the world for painting for me.Source: k-m-autobiographies.blogspot.gr

[in adolescence] for the first time I did a work with a line pen called "The War". I was then influenced by the Civil War, seventeen years old, just before I went to the School of Fine Arts. It was a German tank. And around it, I had everything. Officers, people that were dead, weapons, shells casings and everything else that screamed “war” in a tight and full composition. Then, when I entered the School of Fine Arts, I didn’t paint like that anymore. There we needed to paint with triangles, rulers, math ... I released myself, because I saw that painting like that did not lead to the knowledge of nature, but to the geometric imprint. Source: k-m-autobiographies.blogspot.gr
