Winter Weather
In Kostas Spyriouni’s Painting, at first glance, you find a peaceful silence that leads you directly to the next and the opposite without any queries. Human presence is completely absent from its works, and only when you see some abstract busts and no spectacular fancy love, which were not accidentally set but perhaps to fool the reader-viewer from the main subject that is purely metaphysical.

The presence of pigeons reminds more of spirits than of nature. This metaphysical accomplishes in a unique painting using earthly colors and thick strokes as if to exorcise black and dark. He paints old houses, not necessarily mansions but sophisticated aesthetics where his personal intervention is obvious. He draws homes that point to old and ancient architectures. He avoids the ugly as much as possible and gives beauty even to the most tricky objects. Cables for example electric current are presented as ornaments and festive garlands on the facades of houses or deserted streets.

Earth and sky are directly connected with brown shades and the buildings often give you the impression of floating or being built on water. The clouds, the bad weather and the storms dominate creating awe rather than fear.

As you proceed to look at his painting, you find so much. Behind the painting is a philosophical thought and mainly poetry. Through this poetry, it leads you to travel to distant journeys of the distant future of human existence, the end of existence, and the beginning of a new, unknown age. Is the landscape of our inevitable permanent destination so calm as he describes it ?

Poet

THE JOURNAL OF THE PAINTING OF KOSTA I. SPYRIOUNIS ... This painting deserves to be embraced by tender eyes and to enjoy it gradually with all senses, taking it slowly and heavily, like the drops of an old, expensive wine. To listen to its subtle musicality and to enjoy without hesitation the unspecified quality of writing at first glance, while revealing the mastery of technique and the wisdom of synthesis ....
